February is Collection Month for Heart Patient Comfort Bags
One of the things about a hospital stay, aside from being painful, sleepless and healing, is that it can be boring. A nice way to perk up a day for the family is to give them a bag of goodies, a bag of surprises!
So, during February, as it is Leyda’s birth month, we would like to collect items to fill bags that can be of comfort and distraction to the families. Below is a partial list of things that can go in the bags. We will be collecting through February and will be happy to pick things up from you if you are in the Fredericksburg, VA., area. Heart Patient Comfort Bags Include:
- Laundry 'pods' or 'packs'
- 'grippy' (non-slip) socks for adult and child.
- blankets/quilts, can be home made, but must be new
- baby hats, can be home made, but must be new
- hair accessories
- character band aids
- small toys/rattles
- Small to medium size (6"-12") stuffed animals (MUST BE NEW)
- leggings, so many wires often preclude shirts but little legs need to be warm
- Crayons (24 pack) We prefer Crayola they are better for weak/tired hands
- Blank drawing pads or coloring books
- Pens
- Puzzle books – sudoku, crossword, word find, etc.
- Spiral notebooks or notepads (plain 8.5 x 11, lined paper)
- Red, blue or purple folders with pockets (plain)- there are so many reports to save and file!
- Trial Size – hand lotion,
