What to Expect on Sunday Morning
What do I wear?
Come as you like. People come to Christ Covenant from a variety of backgrounds, but find a fairly relaxed atmosphere. We are here for worship of the Father and fellowship with one another.
What is worship like?
Singing is led by a small worship band with Pastor Bill on guitar. Songs range from classic hymns with new arrangements to contemporary Christian worship songs. They are intended to make it possible for everyone to participate in the singing. We will also pray, preach, have an offering and share news about upcoming events.
What is the sermon like?
Pastor Bill is deeply committed to presenting the Gospel of Grace as the Father's answer to every aspect of our daily lives. Typically, each sermon is part of a larger series, and most often a series based on a particular book or passage of the Bible. Sermons are usually about 30 minutes long and incorporate a variety of media - slides, video, drama sketches.
Is there something for children?
Yes. After the singing portion of the service, children under age 8 are dismissed to their own age-graded classes with teaching and activities appropriate to them. This is an area where we are excited to be growing! Click here to find out more.
Is there a Sunday School?
No. We all meet together, and then dismiss the children. When school starts again, we may add a few special classes before our Worship Service. Long-term though, our focus will be on quality Children's Ministry during the Worship Service and a wide range of adult, student and youth groups that meet during the week for Bible study, fellowship and spiritual mentoring.
Will someone call me or come by my home if I come to Worship?
No - not unless you specifically request it. We are happy to welcome everyone to worship and open our lives to anyone through the week, but we also want to avoid intruding into people's lives for our own agenda.
This is a Presbyterian Church? What does that mean for me?
Yes, Christ Covenant is a church plant of the Evangleical Presbyterian Church. You may be surprised to learn that there are eight different Presbyterian denominations in the US. All share a common history and structure but have some significant differences in convictions and direction.
