"The LORD has brought us safe thus far..."
Christ Covenant Community Church was initially known as Christ Covenant, a Ministry of Spotsylvania Presbyterian Church (SPC). Our service, held at Chancellor Elementary School, was regarded as a 4th service for SPC, an out reach into the western part of Spotsylvania County.
The preparation for the launch of CC took many steps and was in the making for a couple of years. Through prayer, home Bible studies and alternate worship times and locations the Lord's will was determined. God has been gracious and kept us safe - shrouded in His love and protected under His wings.
On September 10th, 2006 we had our first formal service as Christ Covenant at Chancellor Elementary School. Our Pastors came over each week between the services at SPC to lead us and teach about the transforming love of our Lord and Saviour.
In the Fall of 2007 a congregational survey was used to asses where the people felt God leading us. In the Spring of 2008 a "discovery team" was formed and they began learning about different denominations. They eventually made the recommendation to the congregation that we pursue a transition to a new denomination, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). We began in-depth talks with EPC folk in April 2008. By July of 2008 we were ready to move out on our own and actively seek our own EPC pastor. This was a step that required great faith and commitment. We no longer had pastoral support nor did we have a preacher each week!
By God's great abundance we had a wonderful time of teaching, from a wide variety of teachers. Our first "long distance pastor" was Bill Lindner, and, ultimately, he became the person called to be the organizing pastor for Christ Covenant.
